CMI MIC Funds are a suite of strategically diversified, professionally managed residential mortgage investment portfolios, each tailored to specific risk/return profiles. The Funds aim to deliver attractive, consistent long-term yields while preserving capital.
CMI MIC Prime Mortgage Fund
With a conservative approach to risk and return, this Fund focuses on short-term (6-24 months), primarily first position residential mortgages with an average maximum loan-to-value (LTV) of 65%. The Fund targets a 6 – 8% annual return net of expenses.
CMI MIC Balanced Mortgage Fund
With a balanced approach to risk and return, this Fund focuses on short-term (6-24 months), first and second position mortgages with an average maximum loan-to-value (LTV) of 75%. The Fund targets a 8 – 9% annual return net of expenses.
CMI MIC High Yield Opportunity Fund
With an aggressive approach to risk and return, this Fund focuses on short-term (6-24 months), primarily second position mortgages with an average maximum loan-to-value (LTV) of 85%. The Fund targets a 10 – 11% annual return net of expenses.

Teresa Johnston
Vice President, Investor Relations
Teresa has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry.
She has worked with some of Canada’s largest banks, including ING Direct where she helped launch the mortgage brokering division. She was one of the first women to start her own mortgage brokerage in the early 1990s. At CMI, Teresa has facilitated over $200 million in private mortgage placements nationwide and is a significant contributor to our rapid growth and success. In 2019, Teresa was named one of Canadian Mortgage Professional’s Top 10 Women of Influence.

Chris is a multi-faceted professional with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in insurance, investments, and mortgages.
Prior to joining CMI, Chris founded a successful startup in the mortgage education and marketing space, which grew to be recognized as the industry’s premiere learning and development streaming service. He has also held leadership roles at Street Capital Bank of Canada and Freedom 55 Financial, where he spearheaded sales, marketing, and recruitment efforts. Chris is known for his collaborative approach to building sales teams and his commitment to excellence in all endeavors. He is educated in radio and television broadcasting and is a certified professional speaker, having spoken at mortgage and insurance industry events across North America. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching competitive baseball, and holds certifications as a coach developer with Baseball Canada and Baseball Ontario.

Driven by his military background and training, Dave is highly detail-oriented and brings a disciplined approach to his work. As the VP of US Investments and Lending at CMI, he leverages his extensive experience and strategic insights to lead and expand the company’s footprint in the US market.
Outside the office, Dave is avid golfer, has coached hockey at various levels for over 30 years, and enjoys attending stock car races. Dave is also dedicated to his community, serving as a board member for Wellspring Cancer Centre, providing meals for Out of the Cold, and volunteering as a Salvation Army Kettle attendant.
John Klein Horsman
Investment Manager and Team Lead
John specializes in sophisticated investment strategies and products that produce high yield returns for investors.
He has extensive experience with a wide array of alternative investments, including private mortgages, syndicate mortgages, private REITs, limited partnerships and investment trusts. Before joining CMI, he founded and managed an international consulting firm that helped companies implement Quality Management Systems and Process Improvement using the ISO 9000 international standard.
